mkdir -p ~/Library/Keyboards
ln -s /System/Library/Keyboards/Francais.keymapping ~/Library/Keyboards/USA.keymapping
Then put the following into your ~/.xinitrc:
source /sw/bin/init.sh
xmodmap -e 'keycode 66 = Mode_switch'
exec quartz-wm
