I built the package (same version) successfully This line looks puzzing

Even though the makefile is called with
INSTALLMAN1DIR=/sw/src/root-egd-0.8-3/sw/lib/perl5/man
and
INSTALLMAN3DIR=/sw/src/root-egd-0.8-3/sw/lib/perl5/man/man3
On your machine, the fink install script seems to assume that
What version of fink are you running, on what system are you running, and are you running the stock version of perl?INSTALLMAN3DIR=/sw/src/root-egd-0.8-3/sw/man/man3
