Hi.  This is a holdover from the old tetex, which I was trying to coordinate
very closely with Gerben Wierda's distribution.  I made the choice of /sw/etc
for the texmf.local directory because there was a chance that Wierda's
distribution would write to that directory outside of the control of Fink.
(When you install system-tetex, it is symlinked into /usr/local rather than
into /sw/share.)

Maybe someday I'll migrate all of the other tex packages back to
/sw/share/texmf-local where they belong, but for now, this retains good
compatibility with the setups that folks already have.
