I am running 10.2.4 and have fink 0.5.1 installed, along with apple's

menu in KDE? Or a terminal?
Did you set up your .xinitrc like http://fink.sf.net/news/kde.php says?
If so you should have some useful logs in /tmp/kde.log that may say
what's going on.
