Where should the OBJ_DIR be pointing, too? I can get a build (though not a fink build), by running "configure" directly in the builds/unix directory, and running "make" in the root directory.

Is your /bin/sh something else than bash, for example zsh or ksh?

I believe it emulates bash. Should I make a symbolik link from /bin/sh to /bin/bash? That sounds like a kludge. I am running 10.2.4, with (to my knowledge the latest developer tools release (December 2002).

Where is __cplusplus defined, anyway? Both c++ and g++ point to g++3 in usr/bin.
I was able to build it by going into the build/unix directory, running configure, and then coming back out and running make. Very weird.

Just for the record: freetype2-2.1.3-1 builds without any problem here.
In particular, the "choke me" error at configure:2120 has no importance. It appears in my config.log, too.

For some reason in your case, the OBJ_DIR variable seems to be set incorrectly. This should give the path in front of /unix-def.mk.

Is your /bin/sh something else than bash, for example zsh or ksh?
