I have compiled and installed Apple's X11 version 1.0 on my own since I am too impatient to wait for Panther, and it works great so far! Its based on XFree86 4.3 though, which means that it has support for Xft2. Unfortunately, the system-xfree86 package from fink says it provides a 4.2 version of XFree86 (as a placeholder of course). I understand that this is for the current released and packaged version of Apple X11. But, it is still giving me problems when I try to install pango with Xft2 support, and it says that it will need to download and install XFree86 4.3.
Is there any way for me to trick the packaging system into thinking that the system-xfree86 package provides a 4.3 version of XFree86, so that my dependencies will be correct and I can get on to installing some more packages?
Thanks!
