I tried installing the HDF library (v. 4.1r5-2) using fink and the primary library file libdf.a does appear as expected into /sw/lib. But my (fortran) codes using the HDF library and developed on a linux box require also another library file, libz.a. My codes will compile but not link without the libz.a (or some other library containing the same functionality - what might it be?). This file, however, seems not be anywhere, although I recall seeing it appearing during the installation process. Am I a) looking at the wrong places or b) the libz.a is installed but deleted during the installation or c) it is never installed at all? Any other pointers are also warmly welcomed.
