Try setting up your environment as per:

http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-general.php#compile-myself

if you haven't done it already. Also, check the coldsync instructions and .configure file to see if there are any additional options.

Ok, actually, I maybe wrong again.

I tried installing again and I realized one mistake I was making. In order to compile it the instructions say:

For compiling KDE and Qt please look at KDE. To compile KitchenSync you need to untar the tarball and do:
cd kitchensync

Configure it like this: ./configure --prefix='kde-config --prefix' --enable-debug

Note: Set --prefix to the root of your KDE distribution, usually it's /usr ie, kde libs are in /usr/lib, apps in /usr/bin, etc...

So, I know I have KDE and Qt installed.

So, I go to my kitchensync directory and type:
./configure --prefix='/sw --prefix' --enable-debug

Previously, I had been typing after prefix /sw/lib. So, that might have cause the directory problem. But now after compiling with /sw as my prefix, I get the following error:

configure: WARNING: libjpeg not found. disable JPEG support.
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.1 (20021021)) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!

But I definitely have libjpeg installed and Qt is greater than 3.1. Any ideas?

I'm going to writing this to the maintainer of kitchensync as well.

Well, that's potentially a much better situation than I was
envisioning. Does the build problem occur in the configuration or the
actual compilation? And does it involve something else that you
installed with Fink?

Just as a note.
I have no problem communicating with the device (Zaurus). What I have a
problem with is installing Kitchensync. And I think the problem is
with the directory structure that it is expecting.

Well, if the Zaurus is anything like a PalmOS handheld, there are
