$ fink install gnucash
After accepting the defaults for the packages I didn't have, it gives me a list of 155 (!!! HOLY CRAP they should really think about trimming these depencies down!)..
You didn't have much of gnome-1 installed before :) The gnucash developers are hard at work on the gnome-2 port, so gnucash-2 will have an entirely different set of dependencies for you to build (don't worry, it isn't due anytime soon).
Four hours later, somewhere in the build
process, the make fails saying that I need to run "ranlib" on /sw/lib/libintl.a
That is a fairly frequent error, if libintl.a has a different modification time than listed in the table of contents you have to rerun ranlib.
Just keep typing 'fink install gnucash', it will fail 3 or 4 times due to fink's slightly broken dependency engine, but will get there eventually.
