I noticed the first problem on my G4 TiBook...I ran self-update-cvs (in FinkCommander) and nothing happened for a long time...I checked the processes running and found that the cvs command was using over 100M of memory and growing! So I killed it and tried again, and this time it ran without problems (and only a few M of memory). This is similar to the sorts of things I've noticed on my work machine (also a dual G4, I typo'd in my earlier message below). cvs is one of the commands that was replaced in the 10.2.8 update, but I guess the source of the trouble is likely to be much deeper.
