after clean installing panther (including X11) and then fink 0.6.1 
(following the special install instructions for panther on the fink 
site).  now if I try to install anything I get this message:

fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency.

(1)      xfree86-rootless-threaded: XFree86 libraries, utilities, 
clients and data
(2)      xfree86-rootless: XFree86 libraries, utilities, clients and 
data
(3)      xfree86: XFree86 distribution

I went ahead and installed (2) because i couldn't think of anything 
else to do only to find I got a message that it wasnt installed due to 
the fact I already have X11, fink then exited without installing the 
package I wanted.

how come fink doesnt recognise my X11 installation?
