Thanks Remi,

I guess I have to find my Panther cds now (which sounds easy, but is not necessarily so ;) )

Best regards,

Costas

Hi Costas,

gcc 2.95.2 is an optional install from the developer tools cd with panther.

Hello,

I am afraid this might be asymptotically off-topic, but I could not think of a better crowd to ask...

I am trying to compile a piece of software that requires gcc 2 (does not compile with gcc 3 yet). I remember under 10.2 I would gcc_select 2 and it would work, However, under Panther when I sudo gcc_select 2 I get the following response:

The following is missing from your gcc 2.95.2 compiler installation.
Reinstall the 2.95.2 compiler, or use another release.
  /usr/bin/gcc2
  /usr/bin/g++2
  /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/2.95.2/
  /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/2.95.2/

If I search for gcc and 2.95.2 I get all sorts of (header) files under /usr/include/gcc/darwin/2.95.2/g++

Do I have a partial installation of gcc2 or is there something else going on? (And if I have a partial installation, is what I need in the development tools cd?)

Thanks,

Costas
