I did that (also with gettext without the -dev) and nothing changes. how should i provide more info?
Hmm, "fink remove gettext" should not be possible, gettext being an essential package.
I also cannot believe that really nothing changes. I am guessing as to what the [...lots of stuff...] was that you did not show in your first message, but I am pretty sure it involves /sw/lib/libintl.a, and this will not exist when you remove gettext-dev. If you send me (privately) the whole output of "fink install libiconv", I can have a look and try to guess again.
