Hi there,
I ran fink selfupdate OK and then went on to fink update-all, but I
keep getting this error:

Here's a link to a discussion on #fink talking about this very issue:

(sorry about the length).

It still seems to be a problem--I tried building 6.2-23 from unstable against XFree86-4.4 and it didn't work either. I got the same error you did.

Apparently this only builds against Apple's X11.

Any tips? I just replaced my XFree86 by following the instructions on the
webpage and then doing "fink install xfree86". Why is it I can *never*
keep this up to date without running into bugs like this?? Here's my
setup:

OS X v.10.3.3
 > fink --version
Package manager version: 0.20.0
Distribution version: 0.7.0.cvs

(this is a bit weird, because I thought I ran fink selfupdate-rsync, and
then when it went to selfupdate, it used rsync commands...?)

The ".cvs" is a historical holdover from the pre-rsync days. It basically means that you aren't just using the 0.7.0 point release.

Thanks D.
