Michael: I've just downgraded the xemacs package (in both stable and unstable) to 21.4.15 (the latest stable version) from 21.5.17 (the latest beta version). The latest stable version seems more, well, stable - hopefully it fixes your problems. Just wait a few hours for the mirrors to catch up, and do a fink selfupdate; fink update xemacs.

P.S. The only reason that we used the beta version originally was that it used to be the only version that worked on OS X. Since then, OS X fixes have apparently been backported to the stable branch, so it makes sense to make that the default now. I can add an "xemacs-beta" package if some people really want it.
