You can get more details about what happened by looking at the end of
the config.log file located in the build directory (probably
/sw/src/gmp-4.1.2-11/gmp-4.1.2)

Sounds like it, so maybe tell us which gcc that is? Which OS X, and
which version of Apple DevTools or XCode? What does 'gcc -v' report?
