I have just succeeded; I had to to reinstall XCode 1.5 (Custom) to
enforce the upgrade of gcc3.1.pkg to install the crtbegin.o file that
I needed.

There is nothing found with "find /sw -name '*crtbegin*'"
The missing file is /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.1/crtbegin.o. Do you have
the gcc3.1.pkg installed? You need gcc-3.1 for compiling gv.
