Btw I am using Xorg and I dont have freetype2 and it compiles fine.
I don't have an explanation for the error, but Alexander's response did not make sense, indeed. This is a header conflict, and freetype2-shlibs doesn't contain headers. OTOH, if you remove freetype2-slibs, you are forced to remove freetype2-dev, too, which does contain headers, but they are hidden and should not be seen unless explicitly invoked by the build script.
You also cannot buildconflict with a *-shlibs package.
