How can I completely reinstall it? I seem to not delete enough of the old installation. For instance I get this message:

How do I delete so much that fink will create the texmf tree?
Why delete? "fink reinstall tetex-base tetex-texmf" will certainly give you a well-filled /sw/share/texmf tree.
