I verified I got the same error while testing 1.5-11 with something else, but didn't bother recompiling xfig, I just downgraded xaw3d again.
It turns out that xfig has a config (rather Imake) option to deal with the new version of xaw3d. The following patchscript allows to activate this:
I have put a xfig.info file with this into my experimental directory on CVS. The patch should be done by adding two lines to the xfig.patch file rather than with a patchscript, but I'll leave this to the xfig maintainer.
A new version of xaw3d (1.5-12) and xfig (3.2.5-3) appeared during my last selfupdate: I installed both, rebuilt gv and xpdf as well, and all seem to work fine on a quick test of each. I also rebuilt xpaint, since a quick find and grep of the info files suggested it was the only other thing I have installed that depends on xaw3d. It works, but doesn't install properly because it contains a file that is also in app-defaults. (Actually the app-defaults dir itself I think.) Which is to say it is basically installed and working, but fink thinks it is archived rather than installed...
Many thanks to all who made all this work again!
