Thanks for the info. I didn't think of looking at the FAQ as it seemed like a temporary problem, or an upgrade problem with one particular version. I was expecting to see something in "News" or "Status".


Umm...the upstream site changed on us. We don't control them, so what exactly do you propose doing?

I think you should make the information more prominent. I'm not a naive user, and I looked for quite a while without seeing anything that helped. I suspect a great many people are having this problem, without knowing that there is a simple fix for it. An item in News saying that the binary mirrors changed with a link to the FAQ would have been appropriate. I think it would also be appropriate to display something under status for the next month or two.

It's certainly not intermittent now -- the files just aren't there at the old SF URL any more.


BTW, I think fink is great and I find it indispensable. I guess the fact that it almost always "just works" made this hiccup seem more frustrating! Thanks to everyone who puts time and effort into making fink work and keeping it up to date.
