I have a strange behaviour when using inkscape in OS X:
All the dialogs of inkscape always stay on top (that is already pretty
annoying), they also stay on top of tool tips or dropdown lists, making some
dialogs pretty unusable. I have two screenshots to show that behaviour:

Inkscape has an option in the preferences to change the dialogs behaviour to not
stay on top, but that doesn't change anything. While i experimented a little
bit, I found out that the dialogs work if I replace quartz-wm with twm (but that
isn't realy an option).

Would be nice if somebody had an advice on how to get inkscape working
correctly.

Thanks in advance,

quartz-wm has been known not to play nice with GNOME/KDE applications. You may want to modify your .xinitrc to replace

quartz-wm

with

...
quartz-wm --only-proxy &
metacity
...

(or some other window manager)
That way you still get the hooks to Aqua.
