I don't know right off the top of my head. I should expect that's at
least comparable to ImageMagick.
GraphicsMagick is often faster than ImageMagick and quite more stable.
I tried to compile the sources.
./configure -> OK
./make -> make[2]: *** [Makefile] Error 1
make[1]: *** [PerlMagick/PerlMagick] Error 2
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Did you apply the environment settings from
http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-general.php?phpLang=en#compile-
myself ?
Also, you may have to apply specific parameters to ./configure .
I may take a look at it.
