Once again trying to install gramps has met with failure. The only
thing that I can point to where the problem lies in the compile

Gnome virtual file system version 22.x? I don't even think there is
such in the far future. Or am I misunderstanding something?

A prior post concerning a problem with gramps also mentioned a
"gnome-vfs-2.0 version too old" message, but the package that failed
to build was gnome-python2-py23. What actually was the package that
failed for you?
Yeh, you're right it is gnome-python2-py23
I see in a previous post that one person asks the person having a
similar problem as mine to run the following command:
fink dumpinfo gnome-python2-py23 | grep gobject
Now, the person having the problem says he doesn't getting any
data returned, to which the other person replies that that is
bad. He should have had the following data returned, which is
exactly what I get.
(export CPPFLAGS='-I/sw/include'; export LDFLAGS='-L/sw/lib -
lgobject-2.0'; /sw/bin/python2.3 setup.py build)
So what do I do now?
I have done a fink self-update and update-all/
Curtis
Unfortunately, this package doesn't build correctly on Tiger and
the maintainer hasn't had enough time to look into it.
What you can do--which worked for someone this week--is to download
the 10.3 package manually:
http://bindist.finkmirrors.net/bindist/dists/10.3/release/main/
binary-darwin-powerpc/gnome/gnome-python2-py23_2.0.0-16_darwin-
powerpc.deb
Then once you've gotten it, then cd to the directory where you've
downloaded it and use
sudo dpkg -i gnome-python2-py23_2.0.0-16_darwin-powerpc.deb
The 10.3-built package does indeed work on 10.4--that's what I'm
using (for meld, not gramps, but the principle's the same).

Thank you! Looks like it's compiling gramps now.
