I can confirm that this fix works for me (I had to set up an
artificial test, which is why it took me a while to try it).
This is on 10.3.9 with unison 2.10.2 from the 10.3 fink
distribution [i.e. not the binary from 10.4-transitional, I
haven't tried that on 10.3.9, only the 2.13 binary].
But regarding your second email, I don't seem to have any
executable "locale" in my path, so "locale -a" didn't work
to get a list of valid options. I just used
export LANG=en_GB.ISO8859-1
since that setting is appropriate for me.
