[XML::Parser perl version matching discussion snipped] Ranger has patched the intltool package so that it now passes its perl executable name into the ./configure test that most packages are using. That is, the test now knows to look for the actual perl that is used, not first 'perl' in PATH. So if you have the standard perl version for your OS X at /usr/bin/perl and have installed intltool >= 0.34.1-2, even having a different /usr/bin/perl (i.e., perl560) that has no matching xml-parser-pmXXX package installed, you should no longer get that spurious test failure.
