That's how I modify fop with Java 1.5 installed, maybe it works for
you too.
The openoffice package should probably be tagged with a Type: java
(1.4) field.
I modified the .info file to have --with-jdk-home set to /System/
Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.Framework/Versions/1.4.2/Home. That
allowed the build process to start, and it churned away for many,
many hours, before finally failing:

I see that there has been an updated openoffice.org package released,
which makes the changes Michèle suggested. I will go back to that
one and try again, so see whether my failure was random, or
repeatable. I will report back when I have results, but that will
probably not be until tomorrow, judging by how long the last build
attempt took.
