(Option 1)
Does this info. come from a default package table that comes with the fink I downloaded back in Feb./Mar. (or first install)?
(Option 2)
Is it gotten during install or the first run/use of fink?
(Option 3)
I did a selfupdate and more when I had some troubles with emacs back then as well (default, stable tree), so I am wondering if *THAT* is when it downloaded the 20051215 g95 version data?

In any case, this data stays hidden, but must exist somehow, before I turn on use of the unstable tree. I'm just trying to figure out where it may have gotten this, generally, and aside from making sure to selfupdate after any switch.

Thanks,
-Matt

Since g95 only exists in unstable, it is "new" or so it would seem?
I just did another selfupdate and it looks right now, but this seems
counter-intuitive since fink updated the table when I switched to unstable
(or so it said it did and obviously something made g95 appear when it
was not in the list at all prior)?
IOW, if g95 only exists in unstable and switching to same made it appear,
then where (and why) is fink getting the 0.50.20051215 version info.?
Perhaps it's there but hidden in the stable tree? Perhaps it had this
info. from my last (stable tree) self-update and it just "appeared" when I
switched to the unstable tree (in that case, then it's a bit misleading
when it says that it's updating the table). I'm confused...

Sorry for troubling the maintainer.

Thanks,

Nope--that's the only version we have, and it's only in the unstable
tree. You had information from a prior version because you hadn't run
a selfupdate.

Fink Commander's "update table" only reads information from your
computer--it doesn't read any new package information from the
Internet.
