Dear Laine,

When I first installed fink I did search for fink/intel.
The fink webpage was not very helpful,
eventually I followed the directions on
http://www.macmegasite.com/drupal/node/2832.
Everything was compiled and installed without errors.

Now I installed the new package .15 from your link.
Updating my current fink resulted in the same crach.
New installation crashed immediately with innstallation of
the first package (gettext).
Maybe /usr/bin/install (which is not from fink) has a problem?

I have Xcode 2.2.1 and X11 1.1 installed from the
installation CD that came with the iMac.

thanks
Rudolf

Fink must be installed and run with superuser (root) privileges. Fink can
automatically try to
become root when it's run from a user account. Since you're currently
running this script as a
normal user, the method you choose will also be used immediately for
this script. Avaliable
methods:
(1) Use sudo
(2) Use su

Before reporting any errors, please run "fink selfupdate" and
try again. If you continue to have issues, please check to see if the
FAQ on fink's website solves the problem. If not, ask on the fink-users
or fink-beginners mailing lists. As a last resort, you can try e-mailing
the maintainer directly:

        Fink Core Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Note that many fink package maintainers do not (yet) have access to OS X on
Intel hardware, so you may have better luck on the mailing lists.
