Drat...I just update-all'd and now OpenOffice doesn't run:

resolveUndefined(__DefaultRuneLocale) in /sw/lib/libsndfile.1.dylib
no suitable windowing system found, exiting.

This was also reported 3 weeks ago on fink-devel.
Kevin Horton, who reported it, said that he had to rebuild libsndfile1 on each machine (he also built on one machine and ran on another one).
No explanation nor solution was found.

thanks, yes, I'm finding a rebuild on the affected machines fixes it.

I noticed on one machine when trying to launch OOo (for the first time), and just after I also updated Java, it started up JRE (? it was a bit fleeting) to build some cache or other, just before spitting the error. So maybe it is a java-related problem?

It isn't a problem for me to rebuild libsndfile1 on each machine (a bit tedious that's all) but it means that OOo and libsndfile1 can't be installed in a binary-only situation, so I guess it would be nice to fix it if possible.
