With all splitoffs and variants (fink list | wc -l) you get around 5900 
on 10.4/ppc and 5000 on 10.4/intel. The 6600 figure on pdb is probably 
for the union of all trees. But I guess if you make variants (-aqua -ssl 
etc) for all kde packages, we'll quickly have a thousand more :-)
