I know there had been some previous e-mails regarding a SEGV in
mkisofs. I have recently discovered (and reported, see http://
sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?
func=detail&aid=1563890&group_id=17203&atid=117203) that DVD images
made with the latest version of mkisofs can cause a kernel panic in
some situations.
For example, I have a directory "foo" with a subdirectory "VIDEO_TS"
which contains DVD video data. I create an image with the following
command:
$ mkisofs -dvd-video -udf -V foo -o foo.iso foo
If I try to mount the resulting foo.iso file, my machine will hang or
issue a kernel panic warning (gray screen, multiple languages
indicating how to turn the computer off, etc.).
Has anyone else seen this?
I went back to a back-up I had of the cdrtools.info file which built
2.01.01-a10 (instead of the current 2.01.01-a14), and the version of
mkisofs built from those sources does not seem to exhibit this behavior.
