there should be nothing odd about my install since i am just setting up a brand spanking new macbook pro. there is no stray .octave* directory or anything like that. i have 2.1.72-1107 but i can't imagine the -1110 version would be any different...how do i force fink to compile a later version? purging, removing the .deb file for good measure updating, still gives me -1107. matt.
