Hi,

I'm trying to install Fink from source because I need it in a
location other than /sw. I have done this successfully in the past,
and in fact I did it successfully yesterday on an Intel machine.
Today on a PowerPC machine running 10.4.8 Server the installation
fails during the bootstrap phase. Here are the last few lines of
output:

/usr/bin/ld: multiple definitions of symbol ___eprintf
/usr/lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin8/4.0.1/libgcc.a(_eprintf.o) private
external definition of ___eprintf in section (__TEXT,__text)
/usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib(single module) definition of ___eprintf
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [dpkg] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-main] Error 2
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 2
### execution of make failed, exit code 2
phase compiling: dpkg-bootstrap-1.10.21-217 failed

I haven't followed these lists regularly in the past, but a quick
search of recent archives and some googling didn't reveal anyone else
with this problem. I'd be grateful if someone knows a workaround.
Here's a little bit of version info; let me know if more is needed:

/usr/bin/ld -v
Apple Computer, Inc. version cctools-622.3.obj~2

/usr/bin/gcc -v
...
gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5363)

/usr/bin/make -v
GNU Make 3.80
...

Thanks, Adam
