Make sure that the only executable named "ln" on your PATH is /usr/bin/ln. The fontconfig2-dev package uses some non-standard option for the ln command that is understood by Apple's /usr/bin/ln, but probably not by other ln versions (ln -fsn is more standard than ln -fsh).
