Hello,
I used Pine and impad, both from the package pine-ssl. I want to migrate
to Alpine which does not come with an imapd. Thus, I installed uw-imapd
via fink.
Interestingly, uw-imapd lists an empty mailbox whereas Pine's imapd
correctly shows the incoming mails. These are the two versions I am
talking about:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
/sw/sbin/imapd (comes with fink package "pine-ssl")
* PREAUTH [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LITERAL+ IDLE NAMESPACE MAILBOX-REFERRALS
BINARY UNSELECT SCAN SORT THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND]
Pre-authenticated user claus cirrus.local IMAP4rev1 2004.357 at Fri, 11 Jan
2008 09:50:28 +0100 (CET)
/sw/sbin/uw-imapd (comes with fink package "uw-imapd")
* PREAUTH [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LITERAL+ IDLE UIDPLUS NAMESPACE CHILDREN
MAILBOX-REFERRALS BINARY UNSELECT ESEARCH WITHIN SCAN SORT THREAD=REFERENCES
THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT MULTIAPPEND] Pre-authenticated user claus cirrus.local
IMAP4rev1 2006k.398 at Fri, 11 Jan 2008 09:51:08 +0100 (CET)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
uw-imapd, however, shows the content of all mailboxes when they are
given by their absolute path (e.g., in Pine:
"inbox-path={localhost}/var/mail/claus" instead of
"inbox-path={localhost}inbox").
I guess that uw-imapd has configured the default mailbox location
incorrectly, whereas Pine's imapd is OK.
Any idea on how to solve the problem?
Claus
PS: I also tried dovecot, but that's another story... (It refuses my
clients on port 143, even though I set "disable_plaintext_auth = no".)
