Hey, Carl -
    I suspect that you're running into a permissions problem. By default 
Apache runs as the "_www" user, and by default only you can read in your 
home directory. You want to run
    chmod -R +a "_www allow read" /Users/svn/repositories/

(You should be sure that I'm right about it being the _www user. You can 
do this by running
    ps auxwww | grep httpd
and looking at the first column)
