Thanks. I've now restored the missing perl modules.

Next problem: After running 'fink selfupdate', 'fink update-all' fails 
with this error:

bash-3.2$ sudo ./fink update-all
Information about 7008 packages read in 1 seconds.
Failed: Internal error: node for ptex-base already exists

How to remedy?
