I have had problems compiling the xmms-shn package. The point where it
fails is excerpted below. In doing some other searching I have seen a
couple of old posts where the build had failed for some ubuntu users in a
similar manner.
I have also downloaded and attempted to build the the regular source tarball
and have had it fail in the same way.
I am on OSX 5.6 and have xmms installed and working fine on its own and also
with the flac plugin.
I would be glad to post additional info if needed.
