I'm supporting a 10.5.6 Mac cross country using both Screen Sharing
and ssh from my house. I just installed Fink and Fink Commander on
the remote machine. I then tried installing gnucash on it. The
binary install doesn't work, and fink wouldn't let me uninstall it,
so I could install gnucash2 from source which I know works. I've
been using fink at home for years, so no problem:

sudo rm -rf /sw

That worked, but when I try to reinstall Fink the installer hangs
running the Fink Installer script. I tried rebooting and removing
the package receipt from /Library/Receipts. The installer still
hangs. I then tried logging in from home via ssh, and ssh hangs
after I enter my password. I tried the terminal application, using
screen sharing and it hangs the same way. I've also tried ssh xxxx
rm .bash* which works. I've tried ssh xxx chsh -s /bin/csh and ssh
xxx chsh -s /bin/sh. The shell changes, but ssh still hangs.

I can modify things by issuing ssh xxx sudo vi /etc/..., but I don't
know what to do.

Please help.

Harry
