I've not seen this in the context of Fink, but there are a number of hits on Google: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=launch_msg():+Socket+is+not+connected&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 There was one Fink-related reference: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5652621 , but that was really for X11. I'm assuming you're on Leopard. Perhaps providing some context for what's going on might shed some light.
