I hope this is the correct place to ask -- if not, please let me know where I
should send it.

Before installing Fink for Snow Leopard, I used the NTFS-3G/MacFuse solution at
http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/ to mount my external NTFS volumes. I really
liked that it effectively replaced the built in OS X support, so it was
effectively "Plug and Go".

After using Fink for a while, I removed Tuxera's version and installed the Fink
version... I do like and use some of the other file system types on occasion,
and it seems that a lot of development on the modules for other file systems
outside of Fink has slowed or stopped, at least on the Mac side, so I want to
keep Fink's fuse implementation; however I would like the automatic support for
NTFS read/write back.

To that end, couple of questions:

(1) Can Fink's Fuse/ntgfs-3g implementation be set up to be recognized by the
OS X operating system automatically? I know I can unmount the partition and
remount using FInk's tools from the command line, but this is a pain.

or

(2) Can the two implementations work side by side? Use the Texera version for
NTFS, but continue to use the FInk fuse for everything else? I know that I
would have to be careful not to try and mount the same NTFS partition from both
tools at the same time, but are the libraries isolated enough that they can be
used at the same time, though for different partitions/file system types?

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

Thanks!
