I think Alex *just* fixed this issue with the latest octave3xx update. I'll merge this into 10.4-EOL in just one moment... Unfortunately, this means you have to rebuild octave to get the updated Replaces that takes care of this. I'm rebuilding/updating too, because I've seen that error before too.
