Martin,
Doesn't the current fink now default to build-as-nobody? You could try
adding
BuildAsNobody: false to the info file or using --no-build-as-nobody per the
manpage.

ps I just rebuilt openmpi-1.5.5-1 here under 10.7 on a dual quad MacPro without
issues
and the build log does show...
sudo -u fink-bld [ENV] sh -c/tmp/fink.UU1U2
