Hi Alexander thanks for the help, but my problem with pixman still persists.

I checked the link you suggested and performed the fink selfupdate- cvs, apparently all went well, no warnings nor errors appeared to happen. But when I tried to fink install gildas again, it started to download some additional packages and it failed here:

...
/sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-pixman-0.26.2-2

/sw/bin/apt-get-lockwait -q update

Failed: phase compiling: pixman-0.26.2-2 failed

This is some of my info:
Package manager version: 0.34.4
Distribution version: selfupdate-cvs Tue Oct 9 20:58:56 2012, 10.5, i386
Trees: local/main stable/main stable/crypto
Xcode.app: 3.1.4
Xcode command-line tools: 3.1.4
Max. Fink build jobs: 2

I'm no sure if this may help, but here it is anyway:

[ivancabrera]$ which llvm-gcc
/usr/bin/llvm-gcc
[ivancabrera]$ which gcc
/usr/bin/gcc

Cheers,
Ivan

I'm running this on OS X 10.5.8, and I have Xcode 3.1.4 installed.

llvm-gcc seems to work OK, so I don't understand what is going on....
Does anyone has any suggestions?

In this context, 'llvm-gcc' specifically refers to the presence of
/usr/bin/llvm-gcc. Xcode-3.1.4 doesn't have that.

This problem was fixed on October 4, but you might not be getting
package updates due to a server outage:
