Last weekend I updated some programs in my fink build. Along with them was
dbus 1.4.18-2 which upgraded my dbus 1.2.16-104 version. When
I restarted X later the session aborted. It got to the part of the gnome
desktop
which fills the screen with black just before the desktop background appears
and gives the error message " X11 quit unexpectedly".

I spent the early part of this week reinstalling a new fink distribution, but
alas,
I get the same problem.

Up to the dbus upgrade the system had worked fine for about 1.5 years. I have
been using
fink almost daily since MacOSX 10.2 and I can only remember a similar problem
about 5
years ago which got fixed by rebuilding from scratch.

There are 2 dbus references in the log below.

Any ideas?
