Dear Fink maintainers and users,

I installed cernlib from Fink on my new OSX 10.8 MacBook Pro in order to
continue using pawX11. Installation of cernlib works, pawX11 starts up,
but trying some basics I receive the following error message:

Here are my system coordinates:

MacBook Pro, OSX 10.8.4, all system updates installed
X11: XQuartz 2.7.4
XCode 4.6.3

Fink:
  i fink 0.35.1-71 Open-source software
package manager
  i cernlib2006 2006b-19 Paw and other basic
executables
  i gcc48 4.8.1-1000 GNU Compiler
Collection Version 4.8
  i gcc48-compiler 4.8.1-1000 Compiler Binaries for
gcc48.
  i gcc48-shlibs 4.8.1-1000 Shared libraries for gcc4

After checking
http://roaringcats.blogspot.de/2011/09/cernlib-finally-for-lion-from-fink.html
http://fink.9193.n7.nabble.com/cernlib-and-fink-td16901.html
I also tried 'gdb pawX11', which however didn't work because of missing
debug information in the (cernlib) libraries.

As additional info, my OSX system is relatively fresh, with a standard
Fink installation (made today) in /sw/fink/, no own software
installation in /usr/local/. A test installation of 'nedit' from Fink
works nicely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been successfully using
pawX11 from Fink on my old OSX 10.5 machine for years, and would be very
thankful if I would be able to get it running again on my new machine.

Kind regards, Gerd Puehlhofer

PS: As a side remark (probably unrelated to the bug reported above), I
only was able to compile Fink after installing java from
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572, the automatic download of java
offered during the fink installation process did not result in a java
installation allowing the Fink installation process to be continued.
