In this case -mac means that the package uses the native Aqua interface and not X11. On older OS X versions there are also -x11 versions of the package, which use X11, but those don’t build on newer OS X. To locate the program: $ dpkg -L kcachegrind4-mac /. /sw /sw/Applications /sw/Applications/KDE4 /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents/Info.plist /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents/MacOS /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents/MacOS/kcachegrind /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents/MacOS/kcachegrind.shell <snip> You can run this from the Finder by navigating to /sw/Applications/KDE4 and double-clicking on the icon. You can run it from a terminal by using “open -a kcachegrind” (or “open -a /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app”). I recommend _not_ running the executables in /sw/Applications/KDE4/kcachegrind.app/Contents/MacOS directly. -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience.
