OK, multiple things are messed up here and I'm not sure any of them are related to Apple possibly moving things.
Things should work on Mac OS X and Linux with: conda create --name <MYFIPYENV> --channel guyer --channel conda-forge fipy nomkl Note, this does not work on Windows.
