Greetings programs,

I've seen a good deal of posts on users who wish to use buddy icons
in fire, the only problem is that the AIM TOC libraries do not allow
this, and even if they did, would you really want to use them in just
the AIM service alone?

I had an idea that might allow for Fire to use buddy icons
throughout every service much the same way that maccentral allows user
avatars in their posts. What if the buddy editor could allow you to
specify a graphic to be associated with that particular buddy based on
two possible locations: via an http address/public iTools address, or
locally on your hard drive. AIM actually allows the latter just in case
you wish to assign icons to users who have none.

As far as placement, their could be an dynamic item in the chat
toolbar (similar to proteus' service icon item) that would initially
have a generic icon. Once clicked it could open the buddy editor to the
identity pane and allow you to add a graphic location for that user.
After it is added the generic Icon would be replaced by the custom
graphic.

I know this is much easier said than done. It might also just be
plain impossible, but I wanted to submit it to the list to see what the
reaction was.

End of line

Brad
